Dr. Nevo specializes in laparoscopic and robotic approaches for hernia and diastasis recti repair. He completed three fellowships: Monaldi Hospital, Naples (abdominal wall reconstruction), Ichilov Medical Center (open reconstruction) and Assuta Ashdod (complex laparoscopic eTEP reconstruction). He is certified to operate within the European Union.

He has published over 24 articles in international surgical journals, authored chapters in surgical textbooks, and serves as co-editor of the Minerva textbook on robotic surgery. He lectures at leading surgical conferences in Israel and worldwide.

מה ההבדל בין תיקון דיאסטזיס לפרוסקופי לבין מתיחת בטן?
מתיחת בטן היא ניתוח פתוח הכולל חתך ארוך, הסרת עור עודף, והחלמה של 4–6 שבועות. תיקון דיאסטזיס בגישה לפרוסקופית נעשה דרך 3–4 חתכים זעירים ללא הסרת עור — עם חזרה לשגרה תוך שבוע עד שבועיים. הגישה הלפרוסקופית מתאימה למי שהבעיה היא היפרדות השרירים ולא עודף עור משמעותי.

מתי בקע דורש ניתוח ומתי אפשר לחכות?
בקע שגורם לכאב, גדל עם הזמן, או מגביל את הפעילות היומיומית — דורש ניתוח. בקע שנחנק (לא ניתן להחזיר את התוכן לבטן, מלווה בכאב חד ובחילה) הוא מצב חירום. בקעים קטנים וללא תסמינים ניתן לעקוב אחריהם, אך הם לא נעלמים מעצמם ונוטים לגדול.

מה זמן ההחלמה אחרי תיקון בקע מורכב בשיטה הרטרומוסקולרית?
בתיקון רטרומוסקולרי בגישה לפרוסקופית או רובוטית, רוב המטופלים חוזרים לפעילות קלה תוך שבוע עד שבועיים. הרמת משאות ופעילות מאומצת מוגבלות ל-4–6 שבועות. בגישה פתוחה ההחלמה ארוכה יותר. זמן ההחלמה המדויק תלוי בגודל הבקע ובמורכבות הניתוח.

מה עדיף — ניתוח בקע לפרוסקופי או רובוטי?
שתי הגישות הן זעיר-פולשניות ומציעות החלמה מהירה. הגישה הרובוטית מוסיפה ראייה תלת-ממדית ומפרקי כלים גמישים, מה שמאפשר תפירה פנימית מדויקת יותר — במיוחד בבקעים מורכבים. הבחירה בין הגישות נעשית על ידי המנתח בהתאם לסוג הבקע, גודלו ומורכבות המקרה.

What's the difference between laparoscopic diastasis repair and a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck is an open surgery involving a long incision, skin removal, and 4–6 weeks of recovery. Laparoscopic diastasis repair uses 3–4 tiny incisions without skin removal — patients return to normal activity within one to two weeks. The laparoscopic approach suits those whose main issue is muscle separation rather than significant excess skin.

When does a hernia need surgery and when can you wait?
A hernia causing pain, growing over time, or limiting daily activity requires surgery. A strangulated hernia (contents cannot be pushed back, with sharp pain and nausea) is an emergency. Small, symptom-free hernias can be monitored, but they don't resolve on their own and tend to grow.

What is recovery time after complex hernia repair using retromuscular technique?
With retromuscular repair via laparoscopic or robotic approach, most patients return to light activity within one to two weeks. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise are restricted for 4–6 weeks. Open approach recovery takes longer. Exact recovery depends on hernia size and case complexity.

Which is better — laparoscopic or robotic hernia repair?
Both are minimally invasive with fast recovery. Robotic surgery adds 3D visualization and articulating instruments, enabling more precise internal suturing — especially in complex hernias. The choice depends on hernia type, size, and complexity, and is made by the surgeon based on each case.

What's the most important question to ask a hernia surgeon?
Ask where they place the mesh. Retromuscular placement (behind the muscle) is optimal — the mesh doesn't contact the bowel and isn't palpable.
